a sideways 8

Is life an endless circle of joyful depression? A carousel where the horse of life bobs you up for a moment then down again till the inevitable rise back up?
Is it possible for 'the happiest time in your life' to last longer than a week? A set of experiences presented in a particular picture frame, a sale that lasts for seven days only, and then the higher purchase rate of human mortality kicks in.
I have have been perfectly sad, when its so dark no chink of light can breach depressions impregnable walls. But even when bathed in joy and fluorescent radiance there is no perfect happiness as even a single ray of light will cast a shadow...

Perfection is a concept.

Yet another concept that we are spoon fed.yet another concept that we fail to question. We take such concepts as truth. There is no truth in false concepts.

Perfection can only be reached by those that are easily satisfied. The ignorant.

For the creative thinkers among us,satisfaction in life is all we can hope to obtain. This is all we can wish for.

Perfection is a false god.

Good comment. However I would personally argue that perfection can be found everywhere around us within nature and the universe but it is in fact the human condition that means we as homosapiens can never reach or find it.

how can there be perfection if everything is in the state of being something else???????
perfection is another pathetic concept fed to us. absolute bull. we are no one to judge or define anything at all. as usual, mankind judges something it doesnt know...sad.

I dont really understand your "how can there be perfection if everything is in the state of being something else???????" in what way is everything in a state of being something else?
If as it would seem perfection is unattainable does that mean that we are fools to strive towards it? Or is it a goal that can bring around worthy side effects despite being unreachable?
Also as mankind I would say it is our innate reaction that our curiosity and intelligence leads us to try and judge and define what we don't know or undestand.

well you see, i dont think the world is the way it seems to be. she(earth) you and i are, unintentionally working towards a higher goal- our ultimate form. so there cannot be perfection. however nature, even though she is still striving to be what she will be, is in her own way perfect. i have honestly never seen anything even come close to her beauty and the quintessence with which she works with is truly amazing. i know many ppl will disagree with me on the whole "striving to be something else" argument, but perhaps you will understand if u read one of my random writings called "daylight stalker." at the moment im still typing it, but ill put it on soon hopefully.

as for the unattainable perfection, perhaps perfection actually means living with the flaws. look at nature, i dont necessarily call volcanic eruptions flaws, but they are after all hazardous. but thats part of nature dont you think so? hmmm..maybe that is perfection.
i honestly shouldnt say that mankind is quick to judge for it seems as if im judging mankind myself....ahh well...human errors...:)

yes i think it is foolish to strive for perfection, for all we know perfection could be a flaw...its just that the definitions we live it are not adequate enough... *shrug* hey im just a very confused mortal u know....hehe....and i have no idea where this is leading me...

Who are we to judge what is perfect? Surely a tree, an animal or anything is perfect in its existence? perfection is not being superlative in all attributes but being exactly what it is. For example if you score in a game of football, it's a perfect goal. But if you don't score, it's not a 'wrong' or 'imperfect' goal, but a perfect miss. Look at it that way and, for a few days at least, things will seem better.

Although you say that 'who are we to judge who is perfect?' you then make a judgement (allbeit in the form of a question) that a tree or an animal is perfect in its existence. Don't get me wrong, I agree with you, but could it not be that perfection is a purely subjective idea?

Yes. And no. If it comes to a question of definition though, we're back where we started. It would mean that our definition of perfection is subjective (i.e. 'what is perfection' not 'what makes something perfect?'). The former question is the more difficult and possible unanswerable. is it circular?

What is perfection?
Ans: Something we deem to be perfect.
What makes something perfect?
Ans: When its attributes want for nothing.

It is subjective of course, but if perfection is truth, then truth must be subjective. Well it may be, but at the same time, just because we don;t know the truth doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Am I rambling? No, I think I said something.
